Household Chemicals: Cleaners, disinfectants, polishes,pool chemicals

Automotive products; oil, petrol, diesel, brake fluid

The Hazmobile accepts used engine oil, but for drop-off locations in Auckland on any day, between business hours, visit the Oil Recycling - Engine Oil Recovery website

Household solvents e.g.; meths, turps, kerosene

Batteries e.g. Ni Cad, Rechargeable, Lithium, hearing aid, car, boat batteries, wet cell batteries

The Hazmobile accepts all kinds of batteries for recycling including car, computer, camera and phone batteries. It also accepts rechargeable Nickel Cadmium (Ni Cad) batteries.
Note that single use zinc carbon, zinc chloride, and alkaline (AA, AAA, C and D sized) are not classified as hazardous waste and can be disposed of in the normal household rubbish.
Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium batteries are the exception and this is why they can come to the Hazmobile.

Aerosols: including paints

Lead-based, bitumen and marine anti fouling paints only

Note: enamel paints are NOT lead based. lead based paints are very old and exceptionally heavy paint. Enamel and acrylic paints can be taken to the Resene Paintwise stores for disposal.

DIY products e.g. solvents, glues, varnish, wood preservatives etc.

Fluorescent tubes, energy saving light bulbs

Fluorescent lights and Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (known as energy saving bulbs) are hazardous as they contain mercury. They should not be disposed of in the landfill. All generations of energy saving light bulbs are accepted by Hazmobile.

LPG bottles and canisters

The Hazmobile accepts all gas bottles, empty or full, including 5 kg, 9kg, 12kg gas, BBQ or welding bottles as well as camp stove cylinders of any size.
